Covid-19 Back to basics
Since as long as I can remember, my parents, our parents taught us to change our clothes, leave our shoes outside, wash our hands well as soon as we got home before sitting at the dinner table.
We used bake and cook with natural products, prepare our lunch for school or work the night before and bring it with us, sometimes swapping and tasting our peers home made lunches out of curiosity.
Life changed drastically over the past 40 years or so and now due to Covid19, weare going back to basics…..doing things ourselves, at home with our families united (that is of-course who is privileged to have a family nearby).
These weeks of Lock-down, since the 27th of March, have been very difficult for all of us.
In these weeks a lot of reflection had to be done with regards to cutting costs and making sure we survive the economic tsunami engulfing us.
The restructure of the Acrow CT branch was a cost cutting exercise, not a pleasant one, but a necessary one. By optimizing our expenses, we can offer a more economical service to our clients taking us back to basics.
We would like to wish Barri, Claudia and Terrance well and will support them where possible in their new ventures.
Acrow S75
Going back to basics also means relooking at our products and deciding which are the more reliable ones, where have we strayed and due to market pressure concentrated on products that are inferior. Yes, I am talking of the Acrow S75 system, proven and trusted over 75 years in South Africa and globally.
We encourage our customers to go back to basics and trust what they have known and has been proven over the years and insist on the better products for their storage facilities….ie ACROW S75 system.
COVID-19 – PLAN OF ACTION
On the 29th of April 2020 the Department of Labour has issued the regulations regarding COVID19 Occupational Health and Safety measures in workplaces for Level 4 restrictions.
We have preempted and abided by the regulatory requirements thus far, however, we have to ensure that we are prepared for the return of employees and visitors to the workplace according to the safety regulations.
Employees, therefore, will be phased in according to sales orders put through the factory.
A copy of Annexure E and its implementation will be available at HR office.
Above everything else, it is of utmost importance that we keep safe and hygiene is not negotiable and management will ensure that all facilities within our premises are maintained according to the new regulations.
Projects
We have quite a few orders that will be required to be started as soon as possible, according to Matteo and Vishnu.
Depending on the Covid19 pandemic relaxation of restrictions, we can get back to work as normal very soon.
Let us tighten that belt
In conclusion, I would like to remind you all, of the sacrifice of our founders and parents, Franco and Papa Moya, who when times were hard, optimized their time, worked two to three jobs and made sure we as FLE and Acrow could continue to survive and thrive.
Being very thankful on how they worked long hours without compensation and offered all they had to help us continue when times were very difficult and work was scarce. We should follow their example to be able to survive this very difficult time by following their footsteps and return to basics with staff who is committed and competent regardless of their gender, colour or creed and we will succeed in Crowing above the Rest …. as Acrow never gives up.
